Krystal also served as the Chief of Staff at IMPACT, an organization that fosters civic engagement, political involvement, and economic empowerment for Millennials of color.

Award-Winning Organizer

During her tenure at Howard University, Krystal developed her skills as a racial justice advocate by working for the NAACP Washington Bureau, The late Congressman John Conyers, and the Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights Under Law Public Policy team. In addition to this, she spent time organizing protests for Troy Davis and Trayvon Martin and engaging thousands of students by helping them register to vote.  Krystal has organized with the YWCA National Capital Area, the NAACP (at the state, local and national levels), and the Black Women's Blueprint March for Black Women as a lead organizer.

She also served as the inaugural Advocacy co-lead for Black Girls Vote. BGV is a non-partisan non-profit organization that is designed to represent the concerns and interests of Black women.  The Black Girls Vote Advocacy Committee is dedicated to using black women's collective vote and voice to improve the conditions of their lives and the lives of others.

Krystal has spoken at over 100 events covering topics like black feminism, political advocacy, and electoral politics with groups and organizations including the White House, the Young Elected Officials Network, Yale Law School, The Aspen Institute, and Black Women Radicals. Her work has been featured on CBS News, NBC,  NRP, USA Today, WUSA 9, Fox 5, The Washington Post, The District Chronicles, The Detroit News, WHBC, and Everyday Feminism.

As a leader, Krystal uses her skills to advocate for reproductive justice, ending gender-based violence in the black community. She works to guarantee that black women are seen, heard, and are a part of developing solutions to some of our most pressing issues. For fun, you can find Krystal singing Karaoke, reading a book by a black woman, and collecting new candles!
